Happy Birthday to the baby!
First things first. Kenna got to eat her cupcake all by herself for her birthday. She was very excited and made quite a mess of it. I think she was surprised that Kenzie let her get her hands in the frosting and then put her hand in her hair. She was happier than a pig in mud.
Alixa and I went to the new Children's Museum in the afternoon. Kenna LOVED it. She just walked around looking at the kids there. Then she found this center with these red balls, so she got one for each hand and carried them around everywhere with her. There was also this train that we could ride on together. She thought that was really cool, too. We will definitely be spending a lot of time the ere this summer.
The party went off wonderfully. We had pizza, cupcakes and ice cream. Kenna wasn't too sure what was going on, but she got to rip a lot of wrapping paper, be the center of attention, eat an entire cupcake, and stay up way too late, so she was in heaven. Thanks to everyone who came to help us celebrate, and thanks for all the thoughtful gifts.
After most everyone had left, we went outside to try out her new tricycle that she got from Grandma Nancy. She LOVED it! It has a handle so she doesn't have to peddle. I think she will spend a good part of her summer being pushed around in it.
- She makes the funniest faces, especially the surprised face
- She loves to play outside and pick things up off the ground
- She can say cookie, no, doggie, up, thank you, hi, night-night
- She loves shoes and will sometimes have me put them on her so she can walk around the house
- She can and does climb out of the bathtub
- She loves thinks the baby gate is a toy for her to play with and loves to walk in and out of it
- She climbs on everything, and especially loves to climb onto places where she can sit off the ground
- She tries to blow bubbles in the bath by holding her face above the water and spitting
- She still holds things with her feet
- She loves to go "bye-bye" but cries when she has to get back in her carseat to come home
- When she gets excited she says, "ooooo! ooooo!"
- She likes to drink from grown-up cups. If they are empty, she puts them over her mouth and yells into them
- She likes to comb her hair when I say "so pretty"
- HAPPY BIRTHDAY KENNA! Our life would be boring without you!
- Her trying to get a drink anytime you turn on the faucet, hose, or shower. She sticks her tongue out and makes an "ahhh" sound.
- She saw me blowing on her chicken last week to cool it down and since then she blows on everything when you feed it to her, including cold fruits and things like that.
- When she won't go to bed and you go to get her and she is so excited to be free again.
- When she tries to eat Kenzie's hair dryer but just gets a mouthful of air.
- When she closes doors with authority and then can't open them.

I think she was surprised that Kenzie let her get her hands in the frosting and then put her hands in her hair. She was happier than a pig in mud. At first she was a little confused as to why everyone was singing and staring at her, but she figured it out and made a decent mess.
Her birthday started out perfectly. The weather cooled down nicely and we got to play outside in the morning, which Kenna loved. She has started to stand at the window and point to let me know that she wants to go out. The only problem is that lately it has been so hot that I don't want to go out, but today was perfect.
A funny thing happened this morning. I was sitting at my desk with Kenna on my lap and she was reaching into my desk, pulling stuff out. She ripped a paper so I said, "No, no baby." She left it alone for about thirty seconds and then ripped it some more. It wasn't a big deal so I just told her "Mama said no, no." She didn't even look up or stop ripping the paper, she just started to fake cry and say "nuh, nuh, nuh, nuh." It was pretty funny and it is amazing to me how much she is starting to understand.

She has also discovered a love of balloons. We blew up some pink balloons and she thought they were so cool. We had them up as decorations, but she kept pointing to them and wanting to touch them so we took them down for her to play with. She chased them around all night. It was very cute.
After most everyone had left, we went outside to try out her new tricycle that she got from Grandma Nancy. She LOVED it and spent an hour being pushed up and down the driveway! It has a handle so she doesn't have to peddle. I think she will spend a good part of her summer being pushed around in it.
