Nate posted about our vacation to Utah last week, but now that I finally got the pictures of my camera I will use them to tell about our trip...
Anna took us on a hike to a nearby waterfall. It was a quickly little jaunt and the kids enjoyed themselves. Callie threw rocks.
When we got home we set up the slip'n'slide. It was truly awesome! Anna and Caleb were nice enough to keep Kenna entertained. Unfortunately Kenna is now a Texan through and through. She kept asking where the sun was and sitting in the one spot where she thought it was shining. It was not warm enough for her.
We took a trip to this is the place. Callie was still a little down and out from the stomach flu and screamed when we tired to get her to ride on the train. Kenna had a blast panning for gold, making an indian necklace, riding the train and seeing the animals. Callie threw more rocks.
We joined Cyle and Athena for a very nice dinner at their house. Athena was nice enough to get birthday presents for both of the girls. Callie got this very adorable outfit which she spent 20 minutes trying to put on over top of her clothes before I finally took her clothes off and changed her. Kenna got a purse and necklace to which she responded, "Yes! I needed a new purse!"
Sunday we went for a walk where Kenna got to see the "snow" from the cotton wood trees all over the ground. She was really confused why there was snow when it was hot out.
By Sunday afternoon Callie had fully recovered from the stomach flu and stuffed her face with noodles and homemade ice cream.
We celebrated my 30th birthday a little early while I was out there. Anna and I got to do an extraordinary amount of shopping without my kids which was really nice. We also got to over stuff ourselves with dinner and dessert at Rodezios. It was a great way to celebrate
There was a fountain outside the restaurant. Callie threw more rocks. She found one about the size of her head, managed to heave it onto the ledge then roll it into the water. After that accomplishment she turned to me with huge eyes, giggled and said, "Wow! I just frow big rock."
We went to a water park where Kenna decided that once again it was too cold to play in the water. Instead she decided to start a water fight with Nate and I.
Wednesday we finally to some family pictures. Let me tell you how it went. Callie threw up on Thursday but seemed fine Friday morning. We tried for Friday morning and she made the 30 minute drive to the studio only to barf all over me as soon as I picked her up from the car seat. We rescheduled for Monday morning only to have Kenna have the 'worstest night ever' on Sunday where she threw up six times. We finally made it Wednesday only to have Callie cry through the entire photo shoot. I don't know how we managed to get any pictures of her smiling.
We had a lot of fun visiting and hanging out and Wednesday we even got to go with Anna and Caleb to Zupas (delicious!) and to see the new Xmen before headed to the ranch the next day.
We headed for Nevada Friday morning. We stopped with the girls to see the salt flats. Kenna again thought it was snow. They had fun playing in.
Here are the pictures from the ranch. Nate got thrown right into some work which he loved. He went riding with Greg to go find Paul. He was very sore the next day.
Kenna got to try to shoot a bow and arrow...
and ride a four wheeler. She was very hesitant to do that but Aunt Phyllis just picked her up and put her on there before she could protest and she had a great time.
Hands down Dutch was the girls' favorite part of the trip. When Callie hears the word 'ranch' she still says "I pet Dutch". He is the world's nicest dog and let the kids hug and crawl all over him. Kenna will tell you her favorite part was Dutch and Todd (black and white cat).
Kenna got a tractor ride.
We went up the canyon to camp and hang out. Aunt Phyllis kept the kids entertained with water balloons, necklaces and a myriad of other activities that Kenna loved.
Allison caught a horny toad that became the reunion mascot.
After sleeping away from Kenna, Callie really missed her and ran to her to give her the world's biggest hug as soon as she saw her.
Callie participated in the 'sishing' and threw more rocks.
I got to watch my dad and his sibling act like kids again as we took some family picutes.
It was an action packed weekend and we did the best we could to celebrate Father's Day Sunday morning before headed to the airport. Nate got some new running shorts and a picture that is true to our life. Callie doesn't want to hold still. Kenna is condescendingly observant and Nate is the world's happiest, greatest dad.
