A Fun Christmas, Wedding, and travelling

This has been an action packed month for us. We managed to finish up all of our school work and get everything done by December 14th in time to fly out to visit Kenzie’s family. We flew the long flight and ended up in Salt Lake on the afternoon of the 15th. That day just happened to be our 2 year wedding anniversary so I took the liberty of surprising Kenzie with a stay at the Grand America Hotel and a hour long massage at the spa there. She had a great time with her amenities and I enjoyed surprising her with it all. We had time to meet up with her family that night and had a nice dinner at Rodezio’s grill, my favorite restaurant.

I got to reflect on the past two years during that special day and realized I had learned some important things in my married life. I have learned that I am not always right. I have also learned that even though we own a dryer, not many things that belong to Kenzie actually get placed in there when they are finished washing. I have learned to give at least 30 minutes notice before leaving the house with Kenzie and have also discovered that the money invested in flowers and gifts has a direct correlation with the happiness of a wife. I have also learned that my wife does not want a solution to a problem when she complains about something and my job is just to listen and empathize with her while I keep my suggestions to myself. I am sure there are many things I will learn in later years and I have just barely scraped the surface.

The ten day stay at Kenzie’s house was a lot of fun. I think I mastered the Nintendo Wii and by the end of the stay I was able to crush her two little brothers at Medal of Honor. In bad news, I got my butt kicked in boxing and tennis by Kenzie. It was a sad day for me when I realized that my wife beat me in a video game, but I guess that is what happens when you get old and go to grad school instead of living in your parents basement and playing video games all day.

We had a white Christmas in Utah and got something like 8 inches of snow on Christmas eve. Christmas morning was great, although Caleb, Kenzies little brother, woke us up at 7 am to open the presents. Beside that it was wonderful.

We made it back in time for Jamie’s wedding, which seemed to be only a brief interlude between driving all over the place. The whole day was a great time and we are glad that JD is in charge of her welfare now. We hope that he does a good job with that.

Anyway, we eagerly look forward to a new year and not so eagerly look forward to the classes that will start in January. The holidays were great and we kinda wish that they would be about three months longer.

It is finally time

I have fought the current long enough and decided to give in and create a blog for Kenzie and myself. I guess I will be updating everyone on my life and Kenzies life, which might not warrent a whole lot of posts but time will tell.

We just finished up our first semester here at JMU. Finals were pretty tough and I had the record with a 35 page final that had to be done by Monday. We survived somehow and are now looking forward to a journey out west to visit Kenzies family and then we will be heading back out to Delaware for Jamies wedding. I am sure that more entries will follow this one, but I just wanted to post this and get it all set up. Here goes nothing. I am now entering the world of blog....
