Kenna

I am a few weeks late on this, but I was supposed to write something about why I love Kenna.  I figured enough grandparents read this that it would be beneficial to post it on the blog so that you all can get a little better picture of who she is and what she likes to do.  So here goes.
  1. I love Kenna because I get to chase her around the house.  I don't think it would be that fun to chase Kenzie around, especially now that she is pregnant.
  2. I accidentally brushed my teeth with Tinkerbell toothpaste this morning.  If Kenna wasn't around, there is no chance that I could have done that.
  3. I love watching Kenna pick out her outfit for the day.  She never has concentration to accomplish a whole task, but when it comes to picking out clothes she will spend at least five minutes discussing what she likes or dislikes about the outfit that she has picked out.
  4. I love swimming with Kenna.  I love having her jump to me from the side and I guess I even love that Kenzie taught her how to dunk me and make me go under the water.
  5. I love Saturday morning pancakes.  Every time that I am finally home for the weekend, Kenna wakes up and when I go get her she says "we should make pancakes".  Every time she says it, it is like she is just thinking of it for the first time.
  6. I love snuggling with her when she is super sleepy.  Nothing beats Kenna cuddles.
  7. I love when she makes fun of me when I am in charge or her for a day.  Sometimes Kenzie goes to work and I am left with Kenna for the day.  I get her ready and we are ready to go somewhere and she says "why you not know how to fix my hair daddy?  We should go to Lixie's house so she can fix my hair"  When I offer to fix it she tells me something about me not being as good as mommy.
  8. I love that she reminds us to read scriptures at night.  She will even say prayers with me at night and she is also thinking of stuff in her prayers that I take for granted.
  9. I love that she is always excited to see cows in the fields.  I don't know why this is one of my favorite things, but I always think it is hilarious how excited she gets to see them.
  10. I love that her favorite restaurant is Chipotle.  I consider this brainwashing my greatest accomplishment.

I am sure that I could go on and on about why I love my Kenna bug, but that should do.  Happy belated birthday Kenna.  I am glad that you came in to our family.

Happy Birthday to Kenna!

I can't believe Kenna is already three! She was so excited to be a "big girl."  She equated turning three with being a big girl since that meant she got to move to the big kids room at the gym.  Nate also taught her how to show how old she was on her fingers which she can do with no problems.  Also Grandma came into town to help celebrate which Kenna thought was extra awesome.

Anyway, birthday morning arrived and we decided to let Kenna open a present early.  She has been asking for a "big pig" for months.  Two of her friends have them and she really, really wanted one.  When she opened it, she got really excited and said, "Oh I waited so long to have this!"

We had a pancake breakfast and let her blow out three candles which she thought was great.

After breakfast she picked out her own clothes (the big sister shirt, which she asks to wear every day, a tutu, and sparkle shoes) and went with Nate to get balloons for her party.

Kids showed up for some water play outside.  We had a water slide, sprinkler snake, squirt guns, and a water balloons (which took and hour to fill up and disappeared in under 5 minutes).

We ate pizza and cupcakes.  Kenna requested pink cupcakes with pink and blue frosting and after blowing out the candles, licked all the frosting off, leaving the cupcake behind.

After all that fun, it was finally time for presents.  Kenna really wanted to open them as soon as they started arriving and we had a minor breakdown when I explained she had to wait.  I ended up telling her we were waiting for more presents to come which distracted her enough to be able to have a good time playing with her friends.  She got some good booty and had a great time splashing around outside with her friends.

When everyone left she needed a nap which was followed by opening up family presents and a trip to Double Dip for an ice cream cone which melted faster than she could eat it.  I think her favorite present was a series of strawberry shortcake dolls and friends.  She got a lemon and raspberry doll and decided that with her birthday money she wanted to buy the actual Strawberry Shortcake doll which she got in the mini and "mommy" versions.  (That's another funny thing about Kenna - likes to have matching sets of toys so she can have a "mommy one and a baby one.").  And now I have been playing Strawberry Shortcake nonstop with week.

I'm glad she had a good birthday, even though it is a little sad how quickly she is growing up.  We love her a lot and she is the sunshine of our lives!

Happy Birthday From mom -
Happy 3rd birthday to Kenna! Kenna is not a baby anymore.  She is a little girl (sniff, sniff).  She is excellent company and can carry on a conversation with me all day long.  Though I know she’s smart, sometimes I’m surprised by just how smart she is.  She remembers everything.  Sometimes we’ll be driving in the car and she will remind me about something that happened a month ago.  She also notices things that I pass right by. She points out cars that fold down (convertibles), animals and colors.  She asks very intelligent questions and is amazingly able to understand difficult concepts that we explain to her – like how a rental car work.  She’ll keep asking about it until she is able to explain it back to you which she will do for a week after learning about it.  It is pretty amazing.  She is the most wonderful, obedient girl.  If you tell her not to do something, she doesn’t.  If she thinks she’s not supposed to do something she asks first.  I love her so much and sometimes when she goes to bed at night I actually miss her. I love her smile.  I love her giggle.  I love that she says things to “joke” us.  I love when she act silly just to get a reaction.  I love listening to her sing.  I love watching her twirl around the house.  I love when she puts on click clack and tutus and dances with her magic want.  And of course, she still loves to swing.  Most days I hear, “Mommy will you come outside and swing me?” at least twice.  She is always the happiest part of my day.  I love you Kenna!
