Scoot Over

The other day, Kenzie turns to me as I am getting ready for bed and says something that gave me a bit of insight into my true place in my own home...I guess I just take up too much space with my frivolities.

Kenzie - "Hey are you ever going to use that Old Spice deodorant that you have sitting in the bathroom cupboard?"
Me - "I dunno. I might someday I guess."
Kenzie - "Well it is just taking up too much space up there in the cupboard. I mean, the cupboard is really small and if you aren't going to use it you should just throw it away."
Me - speechless (now glance at photo)

Below is a true photo of our bathroom cupboard in all its splendor and glory. I have outlined the allotted space for my toiletries in red. You statisticians will notice that my area is less than 1/4 of the total available cupboard area. Silly me. I guess it is time to cut out the deodorant and resort to a more Spartan existence. Matthew Mcconaughey doesn't wear deodorant and I used to judge him for it, but now I empathize with him. Maybe his girlfriend told him he was taking up too much room in the cupboard :-)

"Anna giff it. I lubb it!"

For those who don't speak Kenna, the title reads, "Anna give it! I love it." That is referring to the package she got today from the best aunt in the world. She was very excited and kept hugging her bear and saying "Anna give it! I love it. I love it." over and over again.

Some cute things she says lately -

I lubb it! (I love it) - then she hugs whatever it is

I yike dis! (I like this)

One day we were outside and the sun went behind clouds and Kenna said, "uh-oh lights off."

Reception in DE

Kenna had a great time in Delaware visiting and playing with her cousins. The weather was nice enough one of the days that she even got to go swimming. She was very brave and had no problem jumping right into the water (with Nate catching her). Unfortunately, she was was excited about jumping in that she didn't realize it was Jenna's turn to be caught and just dove right in. She got a mouth full of water, but recovered like a champ. She is a natural in the water and had a great time jumping and splashing and all that jazz.

Here she is flying again. I don't know where she picked this up but it is her new favorite thing to do.

This is from Kristi's wedding. She had fireworks at her send off and after Kenna go over the initial shock, she thought they were great (as long as I kept her ears covered). The whole way home she kept naming colors and talking about the "fire rainbow."

Easter Egg Hunt in Utah

So I know this is old news, but I wanted to put this up anyway.

When we were in Utah for Kristi's wedding Kenna got to have another Easter egg hunt. The first time around she wasn't quite sure what was going on, buy by this time she was a pro. When she got to the first egg, she threw down her basket, ripped open the egg and started shoving candy into her mouth. Once it was all in there she picked up her basked (whilst candy drool was dripping from her chin) and proceeded to look for the next candy filled egg. Our child is no dummy.

I know it doesn't look it, but this is a very steep hill...

"fying" (flying)

Petting Zoo

Every spring break a petting zoo sets up shop at our local outdoor mall. We took the girls this year and they had a lot of fun looking at the animals. Kenna kept yelling, "Here sheepy sheepy!" The child had absolutely no fear and even let the animals eat out of her hands, giggling the whole time. This video are from the second go round, so it is a little less exciting, but you get the idea. The first time an animal stuck its head through the gate she screamed and laughed at the same time.

Normal

I recognize the fact that our family is not normal. Two things today made me realize this. Thing first, I picked up a spatula out of the middle of the backyard today. You see, yesterday Kenzie wanted sugar cookies so on my way home from the gym (that's right) I grabbed all three different types of sugar cookies that the store had and headed home thinking I had accomplished my task. I got home and it turns out that Kenzie wanted a sugar cookie mix that is actually located next to brownie mixes. Who knew? So she popped in the first batch of sugar cookies and they were awful. Seriously, you could have used them on passover for unleavened bread. But rather than throw them away, I decided that since the oven is so close to the backdoor I would use the spatula as a catapult and the gross sugar cookies as ammunition and I proceeded to throw the cookies into the backyard. It went well for 2 cookies and then on the third cookie I accidentally let go of the spatula and off it went. Oh well. "I will just get it tomorrow" I thought. Hence, picking up a spatula in the backyard - no big deal.

Thing second, our child has a very refined pallet. She loves olives. I think I know why.

Also, potty training has begun.
