After a nap we tried again with much better success. Kenna spent about and hour out there (again insisting on being carried to the hard sand at the water’s edge) digging holes, filling them with water and splashing in them. She even found a bird that she chased a few hundred yards down the beach. The bird was nice enough to stay just out of reach so that she did not tire of chasing him until a big kid cam and scared him off.
On the way in we stopped by the indoor pool and Kenna decided this was much better than the beach. For the rest of our time there she decided she wanted to “play pool inside” and not on the beach. Oh well. We’re glad she had fun anyway.
Father’s day also started with a hit. I took Kenna shopping for a present and card to get for Nate. When I asked he what she wanted to get him she thought about it for a second and said, “uh..jellybean…uhsucker…and candy!” It was a nice thought but Nate doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth so we settled on a card and jellybeans. He also got some man tools to go with his new grill.
Kenna spent the whole day shouting, "Happy Daddy Day!" whenever she remembered what day it was. A few times she got it confused and said, "Happy Birthday Grandma Cake" (Grandma K = Grandma Slaugh) since that was the last person we've seen who had a "happy day."
We had Jarom over. Cooked steaks, asparagus, mushrooms and mashed potatoes. Topped off with strawberry shortcake it was a perfect day!
Kenna has always loved socks. She knows where Nate keeps his and will take them all out of the drawer and hide them in her room. She gets really excited when daddy asks her to get him a pair of socks. She also found my drawer of socks and filled up her trick-or-treating pumpkin with those. This is the latest game she has discovered...pull daddy's socks out of his drawer and throw them off the balcony in the loft. Very cute.
Helping Nate grill in the rain. All day she wanted to have an umbrella and finally got to use it!bath time games
pooling with her long lost cousin
Kenna told me she was going "uhgrocery store" and filled up her shopping cart with things from our cabinets.

Tell Kenna I like the pool better than the beach, too. Us girls with high standards have to stick together.
